The Presidency on Thursday responded to the endorsement of Atiku Abubakar by former president Olusegun Obasanjo for the country’s top job by suggesting that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the 2019 presidential election notwithstanding any gang up against him.
Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the President on media and publicity made the presidency’s position known in a message posted on his Twitter handle, @FemAdesina.
The presidential spokesman stated in his post that the harder the gang up against the President, the harder the fall.
He wrote, “The harder they come, the harder they fall. 2019 presidential election on my mind.”
Adesina’s comment came shortly after news broke that former President Olusegun Obasanjo has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Obasanjo’s endorsement of Atiku followed the intervention of some religious clerics lead by Rev Haasan Kukah, Bishop David Oyedepo and Sheik Gumi who joined Atiku on the visit to the former president’s home in Abeokuta on Thursday.
