The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has asked customers to report any bank that refuses to attend to their legitimate demands within 24 hours.
The directive by the apex bank late Tuesday followed reports that some banks are turning back customers that come to purchase BTA/PTA and forex for pilgrimage.
In a statement on Tuesday, Ag. Director, Corporate Communication of the bank, Isaac Okoroafor, appealed to bank customers to go straight to their banks to buy forex as the CBN has supplied enough dollars to the Banks to meet needs in the invisibles segment.
Customers are also directed to report any bank that refuses to attend to their legitimate demands within 24 hours by calling the number, 07002255226.
It will be recalled that the apex bank last year issued similar directive to customers following the decisions of some banks to hoard forex from legitimate customers.
