La Liga refuse to accept PSG transfer fee for Neymar

La Liga has refused the accept the transfer fee paid by Paris St Germain for the proposed transfer of Neymar from Barcelona.

A spokesman for the office of La Liga president, Javier Tebas, said on Wednesday: “We will not accept the money for the liberation clause, the reason is that we have doubts that this money is in accordance with UEFA Financial Fair Play rules.”

The total value of the deal is worth nearly £450m (€500m), which includes wages, bonuses and a buyout clause of £198m (€222m). Neymar has been offered a basic salary of £26.8m-a-year (€30m) after tax, around £515,000-a-week.

Barcelona has also insisted that the buyout clause will have to be “deposited in its entirety”.

PSG are yet to confirm the deal, but Sky Sports News understands they remain “very confident” there will be no issues with the buyout clause.

But La Liga Thursday morning refused to accept attempt by PSG/Neymar’s lawyers to pay Neymar release clause.

About 5 lawyers arrived at La Liga HQ near Madrid airport this morning but left after about 15 minutes following the refusal.
