MASSOB ready for celebration of Biafra anniversary

Everest Ezihe || As part of their nonviolence strategic plans, for the celebration of their yet to be established sovereign state of Biafra, members of Biafran Independent Movement (BIM) in collaboration with the Movement for the Actualization Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) Has rolled out drums for their 2017 anniversary celebration of their ideal Biafra republic.
 
In a press statement issued in Owerri endorsed by Messrs Jimmy Ukaegbu, Onyenuma I.A and Emma Akabekwe, the organization’s Orlu Zonal Leader, Deputy Director of Information and member Council Of Elders respectively and made available to Newsmen, t the annual event will take place on Monday 22nd May as against the usual 30th May static date.
 
The statement revealed that members of the organization in the South East and South South geopolitical regions are in high spirit preparing for the historic one-week event which their global leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has endorsed.
The aforementioned leaders of the freedom fighting organization in Orlu senatorial zone of Imo state informed that this year’s celebration will feature among others things, a peaceful procession by members according to their regions within Orlu metropolis, cultural displays and competitive football matches among the twelve regions that constitute Orlu administrative zone.
Part of the programmes of event includes thanksgiving church service in various Christian denominations just as Comrade Ahamefule Onyenuma told The Authority that the change of date of the annual anniversary was symbolic so as to tally with the actual date the BIM MASSOB Leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike hoisted the Biafra flag in 2000 at Faulks Road, Aba in Abia State.
Onyenuma informed that the usual 30th May was the date in 1967, Late Chief Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu as the military administrator of the defunct Eastern Nigeria officially declared the state of Biafra and demand for its independence recognition while Chief Uwazuruike re-ignited the Biafra spirit by hoisting the Biafra flag after 30 years of Nigeria-Biafra civil war.
Onyenuma further informed that BIM-MASSOB all over South-East and South-South geopolitical zones are fully prepared with necessary facilities like secretariat buildings, regional offices, and personnel to effectively manage the new nation, on expected recognition by the appropriate authorities.
 
He also reassured BIM-MASSOB members all over the world that the recognition remains formidable even in face of distractions and urged them to ensure a peaceful and nonviolent celebration with prayers to God Almighty for earliest actualization of their dreamed sovereign nation.
