Nigeria set to float first sovereign green bonds in Africa

Chidi Samuel || Nigeria is on the verge of becoming the first African Country to float sovereign green bonds.The development is aimed at addressing some of the country’s most challenging issues of energy and the environment.

The proceeds from the bond will be used to address some of the country’s most challenging issues of energy and the environment.

This development was the highlight of the interface between the Federal Government and its agencies, led by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and the debt market community in Lagos on Thursday.

The Acting President said that the Federal Government is flagging off the climate change bond investment vehicle that would open the way for other private sector issuers in Nigeria.

The Minister of Power, Housing and Works, Mr. Babtunde Raji Fashola, on his part, explained how Nigeria is ramping up on its efforts at achieving the right energy mix for the Country.
