Chidi Samuel || The Nigeria Military on Friday denied reports making the rounds in the country that the self styled Leader of the Biafra separatist group IPOB, Nnamdi is under its custody.
Ifeany Ejiofor, lawyer to IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu during the week filed a suit in an Abuja High Court seeking to compel the Nigeria military to produce the Biafra separatist leader.
But on Friday, John Enenche, the spokesman for defence headquarters (DGQ) said Kanu was not in their custody.
“Nnamdi Kanu is not in the custody of the military,” he said
”It is not the responsibility of the military to declare Nnamdi Kanu wanted. The military did not proscribe IPOB.
“Due process was followed to proscribe it. The job of the military was to diagnose security issues and warned the public of consequences and that is part of our media operations.
“We did our media operations very well, otherwise that weekend would have been the longest weekend in this country and we are also very careful choosing our words and we know the law very well.”
He said the exercises of the army in the different parts of the country was to train the army which is done according to international best practice.
Eneche said the army was also assisting civil authorities to tackle emerging security threats in the country.
