Sevilla end Real Madrid’s 40-game unbeaten run

Sevilla FC on Sunday ended Real Madrid’s 40 game unbeaten run in the La Liga to a close with a sensational 2-1 victory at the Sanchez Pizjuan. The victory over the league leaders came via  stunning stoppage time winner from Stevan Jovetic, the on loan Inter Milan player making his first appearance for the home side.

Sevilla scored twice in the final five minutes after Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty put Madrid in front 23 minutes from time, but Real captain Sergio Ramos’s own goal levelled before Jovetic announced his arrival in La Liga with a sturning strike from 25 yards.

The Victory takes Sevilla to within two points of Real at the top of the table, but Madrid also have a game in hand
