Ebun Francis || Heavily armed gunmen believed to be kidnappers on Tuesday killed two policemen and abducted four foreigners – two Americans and two Canadians – in Kaduna State.
Mukhtar Aliyu, the Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, confirmed the death of the two officers while updating newsmen after an earlier interview in which he confirmed the kidnap of two foreigners.
According to Aliyu, the four expatriates are executing a solar power project in Kafanchan before the incident took place in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.
The gunmen, he said ambushed a vehicle conveying the foreigners along the Jere-Kargao Road on Tuesday night while they were returning to Abuja from Kafanchan.
He added that two policemen who were attached to the vehicle were shot dead during an exchange of gunfire with the kidnappers who later took away the foreigners to an unknown destination.
The Command’s spokesman, however, said operatives of the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit have been deployed to rescue the Americans and Canadians, as well as apprehend and arrest their abductors.
