The embattled former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti state, was on Wednesday granted N50 million bail by the federal high court in Lagos.
Fayose was arrainged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday on an 11-count charge bordering on abuse of office.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
But at the resumed hearing of the suit on Wednesday, Morenikeji Olatoregun, the presiding judge, granted him bail, however, he is to remain in EFCC custody until his bail conditions are met.
The bail conditions include two sureties who have property in Lagos and three years tax clearance.
The former governor was also directed to submit his passport to the court’s registrar.
The charges against Fayose are stealing, receiving money from Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister, criminal breach of trust, illegal acquisition of property in Abuja and Lagos and illegally acquiring property in the name of his sister in Abuja, among others.
The case was adjourned to November 19.
