Amosun’ll change his mind on my candidature, says APC guber candidate

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress  in Ogun State,  Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday expressed the hope that the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, would change his stand against his candidature.

Abiodun said this at an event in his hometown, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State where he formally unveiled his running mate, Mrs Naimot Salako-Oyedele.

He said efforts were ongoing within the party to pacify Amosun.

Recall that Abiodun won the party’s ticket at the expense of Amosun’s anointed candidate, Adekunle Akinlade.

Amosun has said he would not support any governorship candidate except Akinlade who has since left the APC for the Allied Peoples Movement.

But Abiodun said he believed that Amosun, as the leader of the APC in Ogun State, would be part of his campaign.

He said, “Our issues are internal and there is no way such internal crisis would not occur.

“ I am convinced that there is still enough time between now and the election time. We have mechanism within the party that we normally use to settle our disputes.

“We still have about 80 days to the election and I am confident that before then, our disputes with the state executives would be settled.

“We will soon begin our campaign and of course, the governor will be at the rally.  He is the leader of the party in the state and I am sure that he would be raising my hands up as the candidate of the party.”
