I will not resign for “whatsoever” reason- INEC Chairman

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu on Thursday said he will not resign from his post for “whatsoever” reason.

The under pressure INEC chair made the disclosure at a press briefing in Abuja while responding to questions from Journalists.

He insisted that he has been doing his best in his service to the nation.

“There is no reason whatsoever to resign. No reason to even contemplate that.”

Prof Yakubu also ruled out the possibility of reshuffling of residents electoral commissioners (RECs), stating that it is too late in the day for that to be done.

The INEC chair and the agency has come under intense criticisms from Nigerians following the postponement of last week’s presidential and national assembly elections at the eleventh hour.
