Some electoral materials were burnt when unknown persons burnt down an office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ibesikpo Asuntan local government area of Akwa Ibom state.
The incident happened on the eve of the governorship and state assembly elections in the state.
According to an eye witness account, the police were able to secure some electoral materials.
The state resident electoral commissioner, Mike Igini, has visited the scene.
It is not yet known if the incident will have any effect on Saturday’s election in the state.
