Protesting IMN members forces Reps to adjourn abruptly

The house of representatives on Wednesday adjourned abruptly following a breach of its security by protesting members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).

The IMN members who broke into the premises of the national assembly are protesting the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

They reportedly overpowered security and broke down the first gate, before proceeding towards the second gate, forcing the lawmakers to adjourn.

Yusuf Lasun, deputy speaker of the house of representatives, who was presiding over plenary, said he chose to adjourn plenary out of caution.
