Femi Otedola, the billionaire businessman on Wednesday morning presented Christian Chukwu, former coach of the Super Eagles and captain of the 1980 nation’s cup winning team a $50,000 cheque to enable him travel to the United Kingdom for further medical treatment.
The cheque was presented to Chukwu in Enugu by Philip Akinola, the COO of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd, one of Otedola’s companies.
Otedola had earlier last month pledged to foot the medical bills of the former Super Eagles captain following reports that he was battling with an undisclosed illness and needed urgent medical treatment outside the country.
Those who witnessed the cheque presentation include Enugu state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu state and Amaju Pinnick, the chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), amongst others.
Chukwu who has already undergone preliminary surgery in Nigeria, is expected to travel to the United Kingdom in May for further treatment.
