‘Fifty people killed’ in fresh Zamfara attacks

About fifty people are believed to have been killed and thirty-one others injured over the weekend following a suspected bandits attack in some communities in Zamfara state.

The bandits were said to have attacked communities in Maru, Gusau and Birnin Magaji local government areas of the state.

Confirming the attacks, acting director, force information, operation Sharan Daji, Clement Abiade said three soldiers who were injured while fighting off the bandits were receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau.

The attackers were said to have invaded the communities in motorcycles, overrunning Magami district in Gusau LGA and displaced many residents.

The attack on Kunkilai village took place while residents were attending a naming ceremony on Saturday.

While confirming the attacks, Zamfara state police spokesman, Muhammed Shehu, claimed ten peopled were lost their lives in the attacks.
