Election tribunal dismisses suit challenging Buhari’s victory

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition of the Coalition for Change (C4C) challenging President Buhari’s victory of in the February 23 presidential election.

The tribunal’s decision to strike out the case followed an application by the petitioners to withdraw the case.

At the resumed hearing of the tribunalon Monday, Wole Olanipekun, the counsel to Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC), informed the court that their clients were yet to be served with a copy of the petition.

Olanipekun reminded the tribunal that at the last adjourned date, the tribunal had granted an application for substituted service but that the petitioners were yet to serve the processes on the first respondent.

Responding, the counsel representing C4C, Obed Agwu, informed the tribunal that an application for the withdrawal of their petition against the election of Mr Buhari was filed on Monday in court but was yet to be served on the respondents.

In the absence of any objection of the application from all the parties involved in the matter, the tribunal dismissed the suit accordingly.
