UPDATED: AFCON2019: Nigeria beat Cameroon qualify for quarter – finals

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday evening in Alexandria, Egypt defeated old rivals Cameroon by 3-2 to qualify for the quarter-final of the 2019 AFCON taking place in Egypt.

Alex Iwobi scored the winning goal for Nigeria after the Indomitable lions of Cameroon had came from behind to lead 2-1.

The Eagles led until the 41st minute, through an Odion Ighalo goal, before being pegged back and going behind within three minutes.

Goals from Ighalo and Alex Iwobi within three minutes after the hour restored the Nigerian side’s lead and gave them the important win.

Nigeria will now on Wednesday meet South Africa, who defeated host country Egypt in a late kick-off on Saturday by 1-0.
