|The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency over Nigeria’s security situation.

National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, who made the call while briefing newsmen in Abuja, recalled that the party had decried the level of insecurity at a press conference in April, following the killing of a British national, Faye Moone

Secondus condemned the murder of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti, who was killed by armed men on Friday last week in Ondo State.

According to Secondus, the situation, between April, when the British national was killed and now, has gone “from bad to worse”, forcing concerned patriotic leaders to voice out alarmingly.

The Peoples Democratic Party chairman, noted that some of the eminent leaders had challenged the Federal Government to secure the lives of the people and that he aligns himself with an open letter to President Buhari by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Secondus who accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration of incompetence at all levels called on the President to address the issues raised by the leaders and ensure that the security of all Nigerians was guaranteed.
