The management of the Federal University Wukari, Taraba State, on Wednesday shut down the institution and asked students to vacate the institution immediately.

The decision followed a protest staged by the Tiv Students Union over the alleged kidnap of their colleagues.

The management of the school, in a statement released and approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abubakar Kundiri, thereafter, directed that all activities should stop until further notice, to avoid escalation of any crisis that may affect students affair.

There has been a lingering crisis between the Tiv and Jukun tribe in Wukari Local Government Area.

Even as the management announced the closure of the institution on Wednesday, there was a counter-protest by the Student Union Government demanding the reversal of the management’s decision to shut down the school.
