He was seen at a public ceremony for the first time in over two years on Monday in Abuja, at the conferrement of senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title on 36 lawyers.

His home in Abuja was raided by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in 2016 and hard currencies, which the secret police claimed were proceeds of corruption found in his residence.

Following the development, he was compelled to step aside from his duties, as money laundering and false asset declaration charges were brought against him.

He was, however, cleared both charges in 2018.

Ngwuta, who hails from Ebonyi state, south-east Nigeria, is the third most senior judge in the supreme court, behind Bode Rhodes-Vivour and Ibrahim Muhammad, CJN.
