Justice Chioma Iheme freed by kidnappers

Chidi Samuel| Chioma Nwosu-Iheme, judge of the Benin division of the court of appeal, who was kidnapped two weeks ago has been freed by her abductors.

The judge whose first son was kidnapped in Owerri, Imo state, in 2010, was her self abducted in Benin on the 30th of October and her police orderly killed.

Edo state police commissioner, Danmallam Mohammed who confirmed the release of the judge, said she was rescued from kidnappers and has been reunited with her family.

The chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Owerri, Imo state, D O Anosike, also confirmed the release of the judge in a message shared among NBA members in the state.

Anosike wrote,“It’s with a joyful heart and praises to God Almighty, that I announce to us all that my Lord, Hon. Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme has been released.”

“I thank God Almighty, and all of us, for our steadfastness, support, and prayers. I wish to thank the State Government especially, for her immeasurable assistance. Good night all and God bless.”

It is not known whether any ransom was paid before the judge was released.
