Shehu Sanni arraigned for bribery by EFCC, granted bail

Yusuf Bello|The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday granted bail to Shehu Sani, a former member of the Senate representing Kaduna Central.

Justice Inyang Ekwo granted Sani bail following his arraignment on two counts of bribery and advance fee fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Senator Sani, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges while his counsel, A. Ibrahim, asked the court to grant his client bail.

Counsel to the EFCC, Abbah Muhammed, while opposing the application, said he was just served the bail application notice a while ago.

Presiding judge, Ekwo after listening to the statements of both lawyers, stood down the hearing of the bail application to enable the prosecutor study the application.
