Court grants Adoke N50m bail

Ebun Francis| An Abuja High Court on Thursday granted the embattled former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke bail in the sum of N50m and one surety.

The surety, the court ruled must be a Nigerian citizen with landed property within the jurisdiction of the court and must appear with the defendant throughout the duration of his trial.

In addition, the former AGF was asked to deposit his international passport with the Registrar of the court.

The court equally granted the second defendant, Aliyu Abubakar, bail in the sum of N50m with two sureties who must have landed properties within the jurisdiction of the court.

The third defendant, Rasky Gbinigie was also granted bail in the sum of N10m with one surety by the court.

Gbinigie was asked to sign an undertaking not to interfere with the trial or further investigation by the
EFCC.

In addition, Gbinigie’s surety must produce his/her three years tax clearance certificate.

Presiding Judge, Idris Kutigi warned that the bail conditions will be revoked in the event of a breach of any of the conditions.

Adoke and the two accused are being by prosecuted by the EFCC for their alleged fraudulent role in the Malabu oil saga.
