Yusuf Bello| Following Wednesday’s call by federal lawmakers for the resignation of the service chiefs over growing insecurity in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari held a meeting with the service Chiefs in the council chambers in Abuja on Thursday.
The meeting kicked off at 10:00 am with the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo in attendance.
Also in attendance is the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Chief of Staff to the President, Ministers of Interiors, Defence and the Heads of the DSS, NIA and the DMI.
The reason for the meeting must be the rising security concerns across the country.
The senate and the house of representatives on Wednesday raised alarm over the level of insecurity in the land and called on the president to sack the security chiefs.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), last week also called for the removal of service chiefs following the killing CAN local government chairman in Adamawa state, Lawan Andimi and abduction of many other christians in the north by Boko Haram insurgents.
