Nigeria confirms five new cases of Coronavirus, Issues travel ban on US, UK others

Chidi Samuel| Nigeria on Wednesday confirmed five new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 8.

Osagie Ehanire, Nigeria’s minister of health who confirmed the cases in Abuja, the nation’s capital, explained that three of the cases came from the United States of America including a mother and child while two others came from the UK.

One of the confirmed cases is a Nigerian who came via the nation’s land border.

Four cases are Lagos and while one is from Ekiti.

Meanwhile, the federal government has issued a travel ban on 13 countries over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha announced the ban on Wednesday.

The affected countries are the United State of America, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, Iran, Switzerland, Norway, Netherland, France, South Korea, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
