By our reporter| The contact tracing of persons who had contact with the Benue state index case, Susan Okpe has commenced, the State Action Committee on COVID-19 said on Tuesday.
The index case, a 54-year old indigene of the state who returned from the United Kingdom for her mother’s burial was believed to have met with many relations and friends including politicians.
The state deputy governor and chairman of the action committee on COVID-19, Benson Abounu, made the disclosure at a press conference in Markudi, the state capital.
“I was told that upon her arrival, she had meetings with the committee planning the burial of her mother before she started complaining about her health after which she was taken to the hospital”, Abuonu said.
“Some of those being tracked are prominent members of the society while all the staff of the hospital had been isolated and quarantined.”
Abuonu equally stated that a delegation of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is in the state to join hands with the State Action Committee on COVID-19 to ensure that all the protocols outlined by the health agency are observed.
