Yusuf Bello| Kano on Saturday announced that the state has recorded its first case of coronavirus.
Kabiru Tsanyawa, the state commissioner for health confirmed the development.
In a Tweet on Saturday, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, media aide of the governor said the patient, a former diplomat, developed symptoms of the disease, after he returned from Abuja last week.
Yakasai tweeted, ”Kano has recorded its 1st case of Covid-19 in the State. The index case lives around UDB Road, he returned from Abuja on the eve of the border closure in the State. All those close to him have been tested and are awaiting results. He is currently at Kwanar Dawaki Isolation Centre.”
With the development in Kano, Nigeria now has 306 confirmed cases of Coronavirus.
