Buhari loses another aide

By our reporter| President Muhammadu on Tuesday lost another close aide to the cold hands of death days after the death of his chief of staff, Abba Kyari.

Lawal Mato, a warrant officer from Jigawa state and one of the presidential bodyguards, died after a three-year battle with diabetes.

In a statement by the president’s media office, Buhari described the officer as “very thorough, trustworthy and dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus”.

Mato was part of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s personal security team and was restored by Buhari in 2015.
