COVID-19 vaccine may be ready by September, says Pfizer

The American biopharmaceutical company, Pfizer has announced that its coronavirus vaccine could be ready for emergency use by September.

The testing of the experimental vaccine in the US, the company said will commence next week.

Pfizers efforts is one the many by pharmaceutical outfits around world accelerate the race for cure of the highly contagious disease ravaging the globe.

Germany last week approved human trial of a possible COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine, named BNT162, was developed by Biontech, a Mainz-based company.

According to the company, the vaccine would be tested in the US after the human trials in Germany.

Two institutions in the United Kingdom have also commenced clinical trials of a potential COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there are about 20 different potential COVID-19 vaccines currently in development.
