Yusuf Bello| Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday returned to the Senate after spending six months in jail on allegations of corruption.
The law maker representing Abia north in the national assembly who attended plenary, told newsmen before entering the Senate Chamber, he was glad to be back to work and that he needs to hit the ground running to cover up for the loss of time to provide quality representation for his constituents.
Kalu was serving a 12-year sentence at the Kuje Correctional Centre Abuja embezzling N7.65 billion belonging to the Abia state government before his release on June 2, 2020, following an order by the Federal High court.
The two-term former governor of Abia State, was freed following a supreme Court pronouncement that nulliffied his conviction and ordered a fresh trial.
