By our reporter| Mamman Daura, a nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari was on Wednesday flown to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.
According to a presidency source, Daura travelled for his regular medical check up, which was delayed because of the COVID-19 restrictions.
The 80-year-old was flown in a private jet to the UK.
“It’s not an emergency trip, it was planned long ago but was delayed by this pandemic, and you know he has been going to the UK to see his doctors,” the source told Daily Trust.
Daura is the second member of the Buhari family to be flown abroad for medical attention this month.
The President’s wife, Aisha, earlier this month was reportedly flown to Dubai for medical attention following persistent severe neck pain.
Daura is believed to be one of the most influential figures around the President, who help him make some key decisions as could be seen by the reactions that trailed his recent call for zoning of the Presidency in Nigeria to be jettisoned for competence in an interview with the BBC Hausa service.
