Yusuf Bello| The Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo on Wednesday defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter addressed to the upper legislative chamber and read at plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan,Senator Abbo explained that his decision to defect to the APC is because of the mismanagement of the PDP in Adamawa state by Governor Umaru Fintiri.
Senator Abbo came to national attention in July 2019 following a viral video which showed him assaulting a woman in an adult toy shop in Abuja.
The woman, Osimibibra Warmate was later awarded N50 million damages as compensation against Abbo for the assault by a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Maitama, in September.
Justice Samira Bature gave the order in her judgment on the fundamental rights enforcement suit instituted by Warmate against the senator.
