Chidi Samuel| Nigeria on Sunday confirmed 269 new cases of #COVID19 with 5 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control in a statement on its verified Twitter handle, said the new infections were recorded in 19 states and the FCT.
The data for Lagos, the epicentre of the pandemic in the country was, however, was not made available by the health agency.
According to the NCDC, Enugu, for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020, recorded the highest number of cases for the day-78, followed by Bauchi- 37, Rivers-22, Imo-18, Ogun-16, FCT-15, Akwa Ibom-13, Kaduna-13, Kebbi-11, Kwara-9, Edo-7, and Ekiti-6.
Other states with new infections include, Borno-5, Yobe-5, Kano-4, Nasarawa-3, Osun-3, Anambra-2, and Plateau-2.
The health agency further revealed that Nigeria currently has 158,506 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus with 137,875 recoveries and 1,969 fatalities.
