Bandits attacked Kebbi College, abduct, shoot students

By ourreporter| Bandits on Thursday abducted some students and teachers of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State.

The attackers, who rode on motorcycles from neighbouring Rijau forest, killed a security operative during the operation.

They also shot two students, according to a witness.

According to the witness, the gunmen who struck around 12:30 pm abducted both male and female students after engaging the policemen on ground in a gun duel.

“Three or four teachers of the college were abducted. Out of the abductees, there was a Vice Principal and a female teacher.”

“Two students, a male, and female, were said to have been shot by the bandits. The boy was shot on the buttocks while the girl sustained a gunshot injury on her arm,” the source told a national publication.

At least 30 students and three teachers were abducted, security sources also said.

This is the third known attack on a school in the country in the last three weeks.

On May 30, pupils were abducted from an Islamic School in Tegina, Niger State.

Two weeks later, staff and students at Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic in Kaduna State were also kidnapped by bandits.
