By our reporter/ One person was killed and two others abducted when gunmen attacked ECWA Church in Okedayo along Kabba-Okene road in Kogi State, on Sunday morning.
The worshipper killed when heavily armed gunmen attacked the Sunday morning service was identified as Mr Reuben Gbenga while those whisked away are Elder Oshadumo Julius, and Elder Abiodun T.O.
According to eyewitness accounts, a stray bullet reportedly killed Gbenga.
The Benue state police command spokesperson, DSP William Ayah, who confirmed the incident, said those who sustained injuries in the attack were receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Ayah who appealed to the people for useful information that could lead to the arrest of the attackers, however, assured that the command will not relent in its effort to ensure that the perpetrators were apprehended and the abductees are rescued.
The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Matthew Kolawole, has condemned the incident and appealed to residents to remain calm.
The speaker said all hands must be on deck to address the menace, adding Kabba-Bunu cannot be a breeding ground for banditry in the state.
The church attack happened days after gunmen raided Kogi prisons in Kabba and freed over two hundred inmates.
Soldiers and a policemen were killed during the attack.
