Chidi Tony/ For his numerous contributions towards sports development, Senator Effiong Dickson Bob, Fellow Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of Nigeria has been honoured as the Grand Pillar of Sports in Nsit Ubium his home country by Nsit Ubium All Stars.
Recall that recently in recognition of his support towards sports development in Nigeria and Akwa ibom state in particular, Senator Bob was equally conferred the grand patron of super eagles’ supporters club in Akwa ibom state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Bob expressed immense gratitude to Nsit Ubium All Stars for the honour done him.
He said that everything one does is taken note by the people adding that he did not know that his modest contributions to sports development were noticed and appreciated.
In appreciation for the gesture, Senator Bob directed Comfort 91.5 FM to give live coverage to all outings of Nsit Ubium All Stars.
He also promised to galvanize the women in Nsit Ubium to take part in football competitions as women are no longer pushovers in that area.
Earlier, the President, Nsit Ubium All Stars, Elder Ofonime Isong, said that Senator Effiong Bob was honoured for his dedication to the development of football in the local government area and beyond.
He recalled that Senator Bob had singlehandedly formed, funded and nurtured a football club in his village which engaged the young people of the area and took them off crime and criminal tendencies.
He had also distributed sports equipment to the three villages that make up Ubium North Ward 3.
Also honoured was the Member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon (Barr) Otobong E. Bob. Represented by his Special Assistant, Mr Anietie Akpan, Hon Barr Bob was honoured as the Patron of Nsit Ubium All Stars.
The Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, Arc Iniobong Orok, was also honoured as the Patron of Nsit Ubium All Stars. The Chairman was represented by the Leader of Nsit Ubium Legislative Council, Hon Inyang Sunday.
Also at the ceremony were the Special Assistant to the Governor on
Documentation, Mr Essien Ndueso, a one-time Super Eagles player, Mr James Etokebe, the Councilor representing Ubium North Ward 3, Hon Effanga Patrick Inwang other Councilors, the Ward Chairman, Mr Obot Sunday Samuel, village heads of the three villages that make up Ubium North Ward 3.
High point of the ceremony was a football match between Nsit Ubium All Stars and Ikabia United of Ikot Akpanabia Ubium. The kick off was performed by Senator Effiong Bob.
