Robbers attack bullion van in Ibadan, kill two police officers

By our reporter/ Two police officers were on Thursday killed by armed robbers during an attack on a bullion van in the Idi-Ape area of Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

The armed robbers were said to have waylaid the van after which they released gunshots sporadically forcing several motorists to abandon their vehicles and run for safety.

According to Video footage trending online, two policemen attached to the van and two other civilians were killed during the attack.

The bullion van was said to have set out from a new generation bank along Testing Ground in Iwo-Road.

Oyo police commissioner, Ngozi Onadeko who confirmed the incident and the death of two police officers, said they were shot in the neck.

According to her, the officers killed one of the robbers but the corpse was taken away by the robbery gang.

The state she said had been locked down to prevent the robbers from escaping.
