Chid Tony| An Elder statesman and chieftain of All Progressives Congress
(APC) in Akwa Ibom state, Chief Otu Ita Toyo has expressed deep confidence in the leadership of Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo led Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF).
Toyo, a onetime state Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom state who stated this during a valentine Get Together for the ADF members and other progressives further described the socio-political group as the coming together of people who are determined to instill transformational and dependable leadership in the State.
The party chieftain said he was pleased that the Director-General of ADF has gathered determined people together, adding “I don’t think I like anything better than determined politicians.
” When Obongemem Ekpo said our State is ripe for a takeover, I think he means to take over by people who think more about the 7 million people of this State than the few of us who find accommodation in Shelter Afrique”.
Toyo said the task of entrenching dependable leadership is serious job that requires courage and determination.
“I did not just come here to eat, I also came here to say to your people that it is a difficult journey ahead and we need people of courage, and people of strength. This business of taking over of State and making it work is a serious business. That is what I fight for”, he said.
He described the Director-General of ADF, Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo as a man of sterner stuff, noting that he is sure that he is providing the leadership that would get things done.
The former chairman of PDP who is fondly described as Total Chair charged the people to always pray for Akwa Ibom State and Senator Godswill Akpabio, submitting that Akpabio as a human being has his fallibility but that he is a man who gets things done.
“While you eat, say one little prayer for our State. Remember people like Senator Godswill Akpabio, who is but human and has his own faults. Who doesn’t have? But you can see in his investments, in the fight to move this State and his people forward. He has done several remarkable things and must be supported. Every other person supports his own people. Godswill gets things done. He is identified as a man who can get things done.”
The Director-General of ADF, Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo prayed its members and APC faithful who have shown steadfastness to continue to show love to one another including enemies as that is the example Christ Jesus taught His followers, and which the Grand Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio has imbibed and practiced unremittingly even to the surprise of those who hate him.
Dr. Chris Akpan, a former commissioner in the State and APC Chieftain lauded Senator Akpabio for steering the path of dependable and people-centered leadership, by always thinking about the welfare of the people.
Akpan sued for support for Senator Akpabio and charged the people to be guided by the principles synonymous with dependable leadership, adding that
“We are fighting a very serious war, which we are about winning. It is our responsibility to support our leaders in this direction. I strongly believe that if we are guided by the principle of service to our people and most importantly discipline, we would make headway. ”Discipline is crucial in this kind of battle. Without discipline, you cannot take on the caliber of people that we have around. We must be vigilant and not allow the enemies to encroach and cause division among us. It is only through this group that we can have the kind of transformation we need in this State”.
” Akwa Democratic Forum (ADF) decided to use the historic Valentine’s Day to share love with chieftains of ADF and progressives within APC. The event which took place at the Shelter Afrique residence of Hon. Victor Antai was attended by members of ADF, and progressive members of the APC”.
