Yoruba nation leader, Sunday Igboho released from custody in Benin Republic

Ebun Francis| Yoruba nation leader, Sunday Igboho, also known as Sunday Adeyemo, has been reportedly freed from custody in Benin Republic.

The news of Igbogho’s release was contained in a statement issued on Monday, by Maxwell Adeleye, spokesperson of Ilana Omo Odua.

According to Adeleye, Igboho was released to Banji Akintoye, leader of the group.

The Yoruba nation leader was arrested in July 2021 in Cotonou, Benin Republic, over alleged falsification of his passport on his way to Germany with his wife.

Before his arrest, Igboho was declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly stockpiling weapons in his residence.
