Obiano’s arrest not political, yet to meet bail conditions – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday explained why the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has not been released.

EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who made the disclosure in his remarks at an event in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), confirmed that the anti-graft agency has since granted administrative bail to the former governor.

The EFCC boss further stated that Obiano has yet to meet his bail conditions, stressing that Obiano’s arrest by the EFCC was not politically motivated.

Bawa spoke at the opening of the 5th Annual General Assembly of the Network of National Anti-Corruption Institutions In West Africa (NACIWA).

Obiano who was last year placed on its watch list by the anti-graft agency, was arrested shortly after handing over to his successor, Professor Charles Soludo last week.
