By our reporter| Two military pilots are believed dead following the crash of an Air Force trainer aircraft on Tuesday.
Although the Airforce authorities are yet to confirm the incident, a security source confirmed to newsmen that the trainer Aircraft crashed at the Air Force training base in Kaduna during a training session on Tuesday.
Aircraft crashes are not uncommon in Nigeria’s military history.
In May 2021, a NAF aircraft crashed in Kaduna killing the then Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 other military officers.
Also in March 2021, a military jet crashed in Sambisa forest with two crew members on board.
Meanwhile, Flight Lt Abubakar Alkali of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been named as one of the officers killed in a jet crash.
The training plane went down in Kaduna State on Tuesday evening, April 19, with two pilots on board.
The aircraft, believed to be a Super Mushak, reportedly crashed within a NAF base while on a training mission.
In a statement signed by Alhaji Sule Dauda, the family of the dead pilot conveyed the tragic news.
According to the statement, the officer was buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday evening at the NAF base Central Mosque in Kaduna.
