By our reporter| Atiku Abubakar, winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election was on Wednesday issued certificate of return by the national working committee of the party.
The former vice president was handed the certificate of return at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
Atiku emerged winner of the main opposition party’s primary after polling 371 votes to
defeated Nyesom Wike, governor Rivers; Bukola Saraki, former senate president; Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom governor; Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti; Bala Mohammed, Bauchi governor, among others.
National chairman of PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, who spoke shortly before the certificate was handed to Atiku, described him as “the man of today and tomorrow”, adding that he is Nigeria’s next president.
Atiku in his remark, commended the party for being impartial in the conduct of the presidential primary election, and called on party members to work together to win the 2023 presidency.
Party leaders present at the event include, Olusola Saraki, Tari Olivia, Mohammed Hayatu-Emmanuel, Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa; and Ifeanyi Okowo, governor of Delta.
