By our reporter| Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, paid a surprise visit to Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike at his private residence in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, a development that did not go unnoticed at main opposition party headquarters in Abuja, according to sources.
Both men were involved in the presidential race of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which was eventually won by former vice-president Atiku Abuba.
While Obi withdrew from the race and decamped from the PDP, Wike contested the primaries and finished behind Atiku.
The outspoken Rivers state governor was in contention to become Atiku’s running mate but lost out to his Delta counterpart, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Obi, on arrival at Wike’s official residence on Wednesday, was taken inside where he had a meeting with the governor behind closed doors.
Both men did not. however, speak on the purpose of the meeting.
There are reports that Wike is aggrieved and might work against the party in the 2023 elections.
