Police recover plucked eyes of Bauchi boy, arrest 3 suspects

The Bauchi State Police Command has revealed the identities of the three suspects that removed the eyes of a 16-year-old boy, Uzairu Salisu, in the state.

The command also announced the recovery of the plugged eyes.

The state police spokesman, DSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, who made the disclosure in a statement, listed the suspects as Isaac Ezekiel (32) of Rafin Zurfi, Yelwa, Bauchi Metropolis; Nensok Bawa (38) of Kabwir District, Kanke LGA, Plateau State; and Yohana Luka alias Doctor Samu (52) of Golbong, Amper District in Kanke LGA of Plateau State.”

According to the statement, the prime suspect, Isaac Ezekiel, voluntarily confessed to the crime.

“A prompt search of his house by the police led to the recovery of the victim’s eyeballs and more exhibits the statement reads.

“The two human eyeballs in a calabash, a cable wire used in perpetrating the heinous act, and a travelling bag containing some native medicine were found in the house.

“Findings revealed that sometime in April 2022, the principal suspect, Isaac Ezekiel, conspired with the two other suspects to conceive the idea to commit the atrocity of getting the eyeballs of a human being.

“On June 24, 2022, at about nine o’clock in the morning, the principal suspect, Isaac Ezekiel, lured one Uzairu Salisu (16) of Jahun, Bauchi Metropolis, into a bush for a casual job on his farm. He then used a cable wire to strangulate him into a coma and used a knife to remove his eyes for a ritual purpose.”

“An investigation is in progress, after which the suspects will be charged to court in line with all relevant laws of the country in order to get justice. The task has not been an easy one, but in line with our constitutional mandate, we shall remain fierce, tireless, and relentless in committing ourselves to the safety and security of lives and property of the people of Bauchi State and the country at large” The PPRO stated.
