Wike, who made the allegation during a media chat alleged that Ayu is corrupt, adding that he cannot deny receiving the money which was not remitted to the party’s account.

“Ayu is very corrupt. I’m totally informed. Ayu has the opportunity to challenge me, I will name,” he said.

“He met one of the presidential candidates and told him that he’s not sure these governors may want to sponsor the party.

“That money did not enter into the account of PDP, but we are not attacking Ayu on that basis.”

Wike and his group have been at loggerheads with leadership of the main opposition PDP over their demand for the resignation of Ayu, the party’s national chairman.

The Rivers state governor contested the party’s presidential primaries in May alongside Bukola Saraki, former senate president; Bala Mohammed, Bauchi governor; Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom governor; Pius Anyim, Sam Ohuabunwa, Ayodele Fayose, and Dele Momodu.

Atiku Abubakar emerged victorious at the primary following the withdrawal of Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto governor, who asked his supporters to vote for the former vice president.
