NigeriaDecides 2023: Tinubu win in Oyo, Ondo, Atiku takes Gombe as Obi widens lead in Plateau

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has won the presidential election held in Oyo State.

Tinubu was declared the winner of the election at the state collation centre on Monday.

The state collation officer, Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde announced the result of the election at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office on Monday.

The collation officer who is also the acting Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, announced that Tinubu scored a total of 449,884 to defeat all other candidates.

He announced that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Abubakar Atiku scored a total of PDP, 182,977.

The Labour party candidate, Mr. Peter Obi scored a total of 99,110.

The result as announced also showed that ADP got 2,298, APGA got 1,368, APP got 1,985, NNPP got 4,095, Accord got 39,514, SDP got 14,517 and ZLP got 2,707.

-Ondo State

The All Progressives Congress, APC, also won the presidential election held in Ondo State on Saturday.

The result of the election was announced on Monday morning by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, at its state headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.

The announcement was done after the arrival of Collation Officers at the INEC office where presentation of results was done.

While announcing the result, the Returning Officer in the state for the Presidential Election, Prof. Abayomi Fashina, who is also the Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, disclosed that APC polled the most votes with 369,924.

According to the result, the ruling APC cleared all 18 local government areas.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, came second with 115,463 votes, and the Labour Party, LP, in the third position with 47,350 votes. Also, the African Democratic Party, ADP, got 5,612 votes.

Prof. Fashina disclosed that 571,402 were accredited, 570,017 votes were cast, while 19,009 votes were rejected.

-Atiku wins in Gombe

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer in last Saturday’s Presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has secured a landslide victory from results released from all the eleven Local Government Areas of Gombe State.

Announcing the results on Monday, the Gombe State Collation Officer, Professor Maimuna Waziri, Vice Chancellor (VC) Federal University Gashua, said Atiku polled the highest votes of 319,123.

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu came a distant second with 146,977 votes in an election that was reported to be generally peaceful all over the State.

During the announcement of the results, Professor Maimuna said total Registered voters in the State stood at 1,549,243 while accredited Voters were 542,997.

She also explained that the total votes cast stood at 533,778, while the total valid votes stood at 510,043. The rejected votes during the election was 23,735.

In the same election results, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, polled 26,160 votes, while that of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso got 10,520 votes.

-Obi leads in Plateau

The candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has won in six of the eight local government areas declared by the electoral commission, INEC, in Plateau State. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, won in the other two.

There are 17 LGAs in the state but only the results of eight had been announced at the INEC State Collation Centre as of 9 a.m.

The results of the eight local governments were presented at the collation centre presided over by the returning officer of the presidential election in the state, Shehu Abdulrahman, the vice-chancellor of Federal University, Lafiya, and the State Resident Commissioner, Oliver Agundu.

According to the results, Mr Obi won in Langtang North, Barikin Ladi, Riyom, Jos East, Mangu and Bokkos LGAs while the PDP candidate won in Langtang South and Mikang LGAs of the state.
