EFCC operatives visits Dangote head office over FX transactions

Our reporter/ Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday stormed the Lagos head office of the Dangote Group, in search of documents connected with forex transactions.

According to sources familiar with the visit, the operatives are conducting a search on forex allocations to the company during the tenure of Godwin Emefiele as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The source further stated that the search is part of the wider probe of 52 companies involved in forex allocations during the tenure of Godwin Emefiele as governor of the apex bank.

A Dangote employee confirmed the visit of the anti graft agency operatives to the Dangote head office to an online publication.

“They asked for documents on forex transactions with the CBN,” the employee told the publication.

Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesman, declined comments when pressed to comment on the development.

The corporate communications department of Dangote Group has not commented on the matter as at the time of filing this report.
