President Tinubu on Tuesday announced a state of emergency regarding the nation’s security training institutions.
Tinubu announced a state of emergency regarding the training facilities of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other internal security agencies. He highlighted the necessity for this action due to the facilities’ outdated state, which raises concerns about their effectiveness.
Enugu Governor Peter Mbah, who leads the National Economic Council (NEC) ad-hoc Committee focused on revamping security training institutions, shared the news while conducting a direct inspection of the facilities in Lagos.
Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, along with the committee’s secretary and former Inspector General of Police, Alkali Usman Baba, and Assistant Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, who oversees the Special Protection Unit (SPU), announced that the committee has been allotted 30 days to deliver a detailed report to the National Economic Council (NEC) for further action.
