President Trump announces U.S. military strikes on ISIS Targets Nigeria

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that the United States military on Thursday attacked Islamic State [ISIS] targets in north west Nigeria.

In a statement released on Truth Social tonight, President Trump confirmed that the United States, under his direction as Commander in Chief, conducted “a powerful and deadly strike” against ISIS-affiliated terrorists in northwest Nigeria.

The full presidential statement reads:

“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries! I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was. The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing. Under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper. May God Bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues.”

Confirming the strikes in a post on X, US secretary of the department of War, Pete Hegseth recalled that President Trump was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end.

“The @DeptofWar is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight — on Christmas. More to come…”, Hegseth wrote on Thursday

Merry Christmas! , he concluded.

US Congressman Riley Moore, one of the notable voices against the killing of Christians in Nigeria, welcomed the the attack on ISIS targets in Nigeria, noting that President Trump has been clear that the killing of Christians in Nigeria must end.

“As I stated at the outset: Do not test President Trump‘s resolved in this matter. Tonight’s strike in coordination with the Nigerian government is just the first step to ending the slaughter of Christians and the security crisis affecting all Nigerian”s.
