In the wake of a high-tempo, sustained air interdiction campaign targeting terrorist strongholds across Northwest and North Central operational sectors, a
the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) executed a controlled emergency recovery following an in-flight technical anomaly during active combat operations.
According to NAF, initial report confirm the platform—optimized for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) cueing, as well as terminal guidance for precision-guided munitions (PGMs)—successfully prosecuted multiple time-sensitive targets (TSTs) prior to the incident.
Employed in a series of kinetic engagements earlier today, the UAV neutralized high-value insurgent elements before encountering a systems malfunction mid-mission between Kaduna and Kainji airspace. Ground control initiated a return-to-base (RTB) directive, culminating in a forced precautionary landing at a secure forward operating base (FOB) within the joint operations area (JOA).
